The oldest complete Italian tarot deck (and the oldest in the world), known as the Sola Busca deck after its former owners, was acquired in 2009 by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.
In 2009, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, exercising its right of first refusal, purchased the oldest complete Italian tarot deck (which is also the oldest in the world), known as the Sola Busca deck, named after its previous owners (the Sola Busca heirs), and assigned it to the Pinacoteca di Brera,which already housed a set of 48 cards, part of a precious late-Gothic deck created for the Duke of Milan (the so-called Brambilla deck).
Technique of the originale work: prints on paper made from chalcography engravings, which were then illuminated with tempera paints and gold
